In the heart of Madrid’s financial district, Impact Hub’s immaculate Picasso offices were the venue for the final delivery of the project to Impact Hub.  The work was received with great excitement by the management team, but we were also happy to engage in a robust interrogation of the proposed model and its activities, together with the client – learning together from the diverse perspectives which were shared in the handover session.

In conclusion, I should perhaps just mention four key factors which I think played a role in the success of our project delivery:

  • Access

Impact Hub opened their doors to us and gave us access to the people and resources we needed.  The cherry on top was the dedicated workspace they made available to us, for the duration of the project, in one of their co-working spaces.  Here we filled the walls with “PostIts” and had continuity of thought and process.

  • Co-creation with the client

It was critical that we engaged with the client throughout the project and involved them in the design process.  Even though we designed the final solution, the client could still hear their own voice and see their DNA in the final product.

  • Storytelling

We created a narrative that was easy to follow, using a consistent thread of metaphors which helped us to tell a story instead of just presenting information.

  • Teamwork

There were seven of us.  We did a thorough job of understanding the individual strengths and skill sets that each of us were bringing to the team and to the project.  We divided roles based on these individual skills and qualities.

The MCXI programme has given me the opportunity to do work that is not only socially impactful, but professionally meaningful and all round transformational at a personal level.

I’m excited… or MCXIted, rather, for the impact that we will all make in our chosen career paths, beyond the programme and beyond IE!
