30 Apr Closca, when companies dreams of more honest, green and sustainable cities

On April 26th, 2019 IE held a Fashion Revolution Event which addressed the negative effects of Fast Fashion on the environment, the unfair working conditions, certain companies’ dedication to a more sustainable and what we as consumers can do in order to alleviate the effects.
The event was attended by over 50 IE students, alumni and community members and included a clothes exchange, tailoring workshop, as well as a Panel of speakers and a Q&A. One of the speakers was Carlos Ferrando, founder and CEO of Closca Design.
Carlos Ferrando stated that he wants his products to make a statement and reflect a movement and the attitudes of people. As he stated there are those who say:
“I can buy a car, but I don’t want to” or “I don’t need plastic”
It was obvious that there was a market for those who are environmentally and socially conscious who wanted to transmit their attitudes and beliefs through the accessories and products they use on a daily basis. However, when Carlos began to research this market more he found that many people could not find products or accessories that reflected this attitude or message. This is where he got the inspiration for Closca Design.
Closca Design is a company for those “who dream of more honest, green and sustainable cities” as such its products, such as a borosilicate glass water bottle, a collapsible and lock safe Eco helmet and a water app which awards users who don’t drink from plastic containers; are created with the idea of sustainability in mind.
“This movement is more important than me…I am an attitude promoter.”
