13 Mar Millennial Collective Intelligence Committee @Red Innova
Written by: Laura McDermott, Design Lead at Social Innovation Center@IE
Red Innova is a global community of social innovators, who participated in the Social Innovation Awards by Fundación MAPFRE and powered by IE. Within this community, there are incredibly talented and motivated individuals, from diverse backgrounds and sectors such as Health, Mobility and Road Safety, and Insurtech.
In January 2019 we launched the first Collective Intelligence Committee (CIC), with a focus on millennial talent. The CICs grew out of our appreciation for knowledge exchange within both the Red Innova community and society as a whole.
When creating Red Innova, we conducted design research with all of our members, in order to better understand where the community could best add value. One of the key opportunities from this research was around empathising with different professional profiles.
Red Innova has a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, professions and generations. Through our research and constant contact with members, we came to the conclusion that facilitating an exchange of knowledge about how to best work with, and optimise, diverse talent within a social startup was key to running effective teams.
Our first CIC is related to millennials, and includes: Amanda Maia, Communications Analyst at Horas da Vida’ Daniel Ibiza, Founder and CEO of AIUDO; René Espinoza, Founder and CEO of Lazarillo and Laura McDermott, Design Lead and Community Manager of Red Innova. As a committee, we have been collaborating and reflecting for the past two months about the key attributes of millennial talent within social impact startups. Hailing from different regions (Brazil, Spain, Chile and Ireland) has meant that we all bring a slightly different angle and experience to the conversation, though given our interconnected world, there are also striking commonalities.
We are currently refining our conclusions, which are due to be shared with not only Red Innova, but also with a wider audience, in the near future. As the first CIC, we hope that our insights will be able to provide valuable knowledge to any social entrepreneur or enterprise that is looking to leverage the talent of millennials globally.
