08 May 500 Social Innovation projects apply to First Edition of Fundación MAPFRE Awards for Social Innovation Boosted by IE

We’re overwhelmed by the number of applicants to the First Edition of Fundación MAPFRE Awards for Social Innovation Boosted by IE! Since last April 30^th, the call for applications is closed. During the weeks in which the call has been open, more than 350 institutions from close to 30 countries collaborated with us in spreading the word about this great opportunity. Finally, close to 500 social innovators from across Latin America and Europe applied. Way beyond our expectations!

The evaluation committee is now in the process of selecting among them the 27 initiatives that will reach the 3 semifinals.  Selected semifinalists will defend their idea face to face at one of the challenging events (Sao Paulo, Mexico DC and Madrid) to take place during July and September 2018. Semifinalists will receive mentoring, exposure to experts and international travel opportunities to the semifinal events.

The final will take place in Madrid in October 2018. 9 finalists will be granted professional coaching, media exposure and international travel opportunities to the finale. At the final, the jury will select 3 winners, one per category: (1) Health, (2) Mobility and Traffic Safety and (3) Insurance Innovation. Each of them will be presented with a €30.000 donation to boost their projects.

With this project, IE & MAPFRE Foundation are contributing to enhance the global social innovation ecosystem and stablishing the seed for what is designed to become a reference award in the sector.
